La mission d'INTEGRAL, qui est placé en orbite le 17 octobre 2002, est prolongée par l'Agence spatiale européenne, pilote du projet, jusqu'à la fin 20201. Une seconde prolongation de la mission est ensuite actée jusqu'au 31 décembre 20222.
