reference-back paradigm

Définition

  • Method of studying memory based on the n-back task that enables the separation of the different subprocesses of working memory. On each trial, a stimulus (e.g., a letter or a face) is presented within a blue frame or a red frame. The subject is asked to indicate whether or not this stimulus is identical to the stimulus most recently presented in a red frame. Trials containing a red frame are termed reference trials. Trials with a blue frame are termed comparison trials (after Nir-Cohen et al., 2020).
