- Théorie des instances, formalisée mathématiquement, qui considère l'attention, la catégorisation et la mémoire comme les différentes perspectives d'un seul et même acte cognitif, modélisé comme une course entre des alternatives concurrentes où un objet est sélectionné et catégorisé simultanément grâce à l'analogie entre les stimuli et les instances stockées en mémoire (Logan, 2002).
