- Mandala est un terme sanskrit, en tibétain : Wylie : dkyil 'khor, THL : kilkor, (transcription en japonais : mandara) signifiant cercle, et par extension, sphère, environnement, communauté. Les mandalas sont en premier lieu des aires rituelles utilisées pour évoquer des divinités hindoues. Le bouddhisme héritier de ces pratiques utilise également les mandalas pour ses rites et ses pratiques de méditation. (Source : DBpedia)
