- Mineral waste is the solid, liquid, and airborne byproducts of mining and mineral concentration processes. Although mining and metallurgy are ancient arts, the Industrial Revolution launched an accelerating global demand for minerals that has made waste generation and disposal modern industry's most severe environmental and social challenge.
