  • Acoustics, derived from the Greek word <image> (akoustikos) meaning “for hearing,” is an interdisciplinary science that entails production, transmission, control, reception, and effects of sound. Sound is generated due to pressure variations, or oscillations, in an elastic medium such as air, water, and solids, resulting in audible vibrations.
