- Constitutional patriotism (Verfassungspatriotis mus) is a term developed by the contemporary German philosopher and social theorist Jürgen Habermas (1929–). The component parts of the term, constitution and patriotism, have their own meanings and were in widespread use long before Habermas combined the two.
