  • Postmodern historiography designates an array of approaches to historical inquiry that eschew modern historiographical assumptions. Modern historiographical assumptions rejected by postmodern historiography include teleology, coherence, totalizing (or “grand”) narratives, determinism, progress, truth, realism, objectivity, universality, and essentialism.
