Definición

  • Founded in 1832 as the Provincial Medical and Surgical Association, becoming the BMA in 1855, the first of the modern professional organizations and one whose power and influence in politics and policy other occupations have aspired to. The aims of the organization were to break the stranglehold of the Royal Colleges over the practice of medicine and to eliminate competition from unqualified practitioners (medical dominance).
