  • Lyndon B. Johnson formed the President's Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Justice on July 23, 1965, instructing it to report in two years on how to prevent juvenile delinquency and adult criminality and how to perform better policing and justice agency management. The Task Force on Corrections included five commissioners, an associate director, six full-time staffers, and dozens of consultants and advisers.
