  • Maximum acceptable outage (MAO) is the term given to the maximum period of time that a system or key product can be unavailable or undeliverable following a disruption before its loss will have an irreparable impact upon a business, service, or organization's objectives or survival. Maximum acceptable outage is also frequently referred to as maximum allowable outage or maximum tolerable period of disruption (MTPOD), particularly within the United Kingdom.
