Definición
- The Sixth Amendment states, “In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial.” The Constitution, however, sets no definite time limits. The Supreme Court has used an ad hoc, balancing approach to evaluate pretrial delays resulting from government actions. [Source: The Supreme Court A to Z; Speedy Trial, Right to]
