massed practice

Definición

  • There are two basic forms of massed practice: positive massed practice and negative massed practice. Massed practice requires a relatively large number of responses to be emitted in a given time period. In positive massed practice, the purpose is to maximize learning of correct responses and to strengthen responding through repetition to high levels of consistently correct responses (mastery). The second form, negative massed practice, is typically used to decrease behaviors. The target behavior is repeated as in positive massed practice, but with the goal of reducing the target behavior through fatigue and/or response inhibition.
