  • Classification systems are primary management processes used by both correctional institutions and community corrections to determine appropriate security and custody status for adult and juvenile offenders. Classification is necessary in order to ensure correctional facility safety, efficient operations, fiscal responsibility, and appropriate levels of risk for community protection.
