Definición
- Bounty hunters are private individuals typically hired by bail bondsmen who are seeking the return of a fugitive who has jumped bail (bail is governed by the Eighth Amendment) to avoid having to pay the liability on the bond that the bondsman would otherwise owe. Most act under the authority of contracts that individuals purchasing bail have made, which the Supreme Court recognized in Taylor v. Taintor (1872).
