  • Giuseppe Mazzini (1805–1872) was an Italian political activist and a nationalist theorist who is considered one of modern Italy's founding fathers. Born in Genoa, a port city of northwestern Italy, Mazzini earned a university degree in law, but showed more interest in literature, aesthetics, and politics.
