Definition
- Partners committing to lifelong partnerships often hope for at least two favorable outcomes: to have a happy relationship and for the relationship to remain intact. However, longitudinal studies demonstrate dramatic declines in marital satisfaction across the first 10 years of marriage, and about half of American marriages end in divorce.
