- Over the past decade, there has been a rapid expansion in the use of the Internet in the Westernized world. According to the latest figures, 68.2% of all those in the United States have access to the Internet, representing a growth of 107% between 2000 and 2005, and 36% of all Europeans now have access to the Internet, a growth of 172% for the same period.
