- Despite numerous medical advances that have contributed to declining cancer death rates in the United States, the absolute number of new cancers and cancer deaths continues to increase. Cancer is the number two cause of death in the United States, and a growing body of evidence implies that certain human behaviors or lifestyle factors play an important role in the risk of certain cancers, including prostate cancer.
