  • Facial recognition technology uses software to match faces observed by a video camera with the faces of criminal suspects. The technology received widespread media coverage in the United States when it was used at the 2001 Super Bowl game in Tampa, Florida, to search for and identify suspected felons and terrorists in the enormous crowd.
