Definition
- Perilipin is a protein involved in the formation and stabilization of lipid droplets in mammalian adipose cells. Perilipins are expressed only in adipocytes and steroidogenic cells and they are centrally involved in both lipid storage and degradation. [Source: Encyclopedia of Obesity; Perilipins]
