Preferred term

grandparents' role in education

Definition

  • According to recent U.S. censuses, more grandparents are living with school-age children, so the impact of grandparents on their grandchildren's education is becoming increasingly important. Grandparents can give grandchildren extra resources to aid their education, or they can compete with them for scarce family resources, which can hinder the grandchildren's learning.
