sustainable agriculture
Definition
- The concept of sustainable agriculture—a food and fiber production system that does not destroy the ecological, human, and animal foundations on which it is built—is not a new idea. Well before the rise of the industrial agricultural system that developed in the wake of World War II and the green revolution of the 1960s that brought mechanized, high input agriculture from the United States to countries around the world, people advocated for a food production system that fostered health in the soil, in animals, and in people.
