Definition
- Neil R. Smith (1954–2012) was an urban geographer and dialectical materialist. Deeply influenced by Karl Marx, David Harvey, and Henri Lefebvre, Smith developed insight into the historical geography of capitalism through attention to the spatial contradictions inherent in capitalist growth, particularly at the urban and global scales.
