- Une interface de programmation d'applications est un ensemble de routines, de protocoles et d'outils permettant de créer des applications logicielles. Une API exprime un composant logiciel en termes d'opérations, d'entrées, de sorties et de types sous-jacents. Une API définit des fonctionnalités qui sont indépendantes de leurs implémentations respectives, ce qui permet aux définitions et aux implémentations de varier sans se compromettre mutuellement. L'API spécifie comment les composants logiciels doivent interagir.
