  • An abnormality in lung development that is characterized by a multicystic mass resulting from an adenomatous overgrowth of the terminal BRONCHIOLES with a consequent reduction of PULMONARY ALVEOLI. This anomaly is classified into three types by the cyst size. This type is characterized by a bulky solid mass with cysts of <0.5 cm. This type is macrocystic, characterized by a single or multiple cysts of >2.5 cm. This type is microcystic, characterized by multiple cysts of 0.5 to 2.5 cm.
