Definition
- The application of industrial management practice to systematically maintain and improve organization-wide performance. Effectiveness and success are determined and assessed by quantitative quality measures. A set of techniques and metric tools used to strive for a near perfect process or production. It targets a defect rate of 3.4 per million or 6 standard deviations (designated as Greek letter sigma).
