- Poussin: one of four paintings commissioned by Cardinal Rospigliosi, later Pope Clement IX. The 4 dancing figures represent Human Life (i.e., the cycle of the human condition: Poverty, Labor, Wealth, Pleasure), the old man is Time. The painting is called Dance of Human Life, or Dance to the Music of Time, but also (wrongly) Dance of the Seasons.
