- Conflates bedroom scene after birth with the ceremony of giving the blue ribbon. Watteau's oil sketch (in Warsaw) was done after a drawing (in Berlin) by his master Antoine Dieu. Dieu's final painting (in Versailles), without blue ribbon, was done as cartoon for a tapestry, qv. Birth of Louis de France, Duke of Burgundy.
