Title
Primatology (thesaurus)
Thesaurus of primatology
Description
The thesaurus of primatology created by Inist-CNRS is a bilingual terminology resource (French and English) which lists the concepts from the field of primatology. This thesaurus is the result of a collaboration between primatologists and terminology engineering specialists; it describes and structures about 600 concepts. During the creation process, both technical and scientific skills were mobilised — constitution of a corpus, terminology extraction (from the Revue de Primatologie), sorting and hierarchisation of concepts, enrichment (definitions, examples, synonyms, semantic relations between concepts). This resource aims to provide the scientific community with a baseline vocabulary and facilitate documentary searches.
