layer

A collection of neurons where each neuron processes the information of the previous layer prior to passing the results onto the neurons in the subsequent layers from left to right. (Pillay, Counting Animals in Ecological Images (thesis), University of Cape Town, 2022)

neuron

Most neural networks are organized into groups of units called layers. Most neural network architectures arrange these layers in a chain structure, with each layer being a function of the layer that preceded it. (Goodfellow et al., Deep Learning, 2016)

Exemple

The second layer has 1 node and sigmoid activation which predicts if the pair of documents are similar or not. (Jha, Samavedhi, Rakesh, Chandrashekar & Reddy, 2023)
