Classical technology in text categorization pays much attention to determining whether a text is related to a given topic such as sports and finance. (Hu, Duan, Chen, Pei & Lu, 2005)
Hovy (2015) show that including author demographics can improve text classification a similar approach might improve text-based geolocation as well. (Pavalanathan & Eisenstein, 2015)
Text classification is often augmented by rich set of labeled features representing a particular class. (Sristy & Somayajulu, 2012)
Traditional text categorization is usually a topic-based task but a subtle demand on information retrieval is to distinguish between positive and negative view on text topic. (Hu, Duan, Chen, Pei & Lu, 2005)
Yan et al (2006) used text categorization and stylistic web features such as emoticons to identify gender and achieved 60% F-measure. (Rosenthal & McKeown, 2011)
