Broader concept

Synonym(s)

  • semantic relatedness

Example

  • Multi-modal linking is a domain where semantic similarities are searched among multi-modal documents and/or across modalities. (Camelin, Damnati, Bouchekif, Landeau, Charlet & Estève, 2018)
  • Semantic relatedness is therefore correlated with the calculated distance (e.g. cosine distance) between vectors although the precise nature of the relatedness is not well understood. (Veres, 2019)
  • Semantic relatedness will include both taxonomic (including different abstraction levels) and non-taxonomic relationships. (Freitas, Efson Sales, Handschuh & Curry, 2015)
  • We then compute the semantic similarity as described in the previous subsection between all pairs of sentences in a given document. (Glavaš, Nanni & Ponzetto, 2016)
  • We use a measure of semantic similarity from the WordNet Similarity package to relate the senses of the target word to the neighbours in the thesaurus. (McCarthy, Koeling, Weeds & Carroll, 2004)
