  • Historical languages did not have universally accepted prescriptive grammar or standardized orthography and thus spelling varies depending on the authorship region or time when the document was written. (Sukhareva, 2020)
  • In linguistics descriptivism studies how language is used whereas prescriptive grammar declares how language should be used (Justice 2006). (Rottger, Vidgen, Hovy & Pierrehumbert, 2022)
